Beehive Cheese wins first place awardAugust 15, 2008 Sun Valley, Idaho Beehive Cheese Company of Uintah, UT wins First Place in the Aged Cheddar category with Promontory Cheddar. The contest winners were announced on Thursday, August 14th, 2008 at the Wine and Cheese social at the Idaho Milk Processors Association annual meeting and competition. The Blue Ribbon Promontory Cheddar was auctioned later in the evening for $1,600. “It is an honor for our Promontory Cheddar to be recognized as best in class by the IMPA. The affirmation motivates us to continue making quality and unique cheeses” said Tim Welsh of Beehive Cheese Company. This year marks the 13th annual cheese competition and the 81st annual meeting of the Idaho Milk Producers Association. The Association and competition encompasses milk producers from 6 Western states including Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Washington and Oregon.
