Utah’s Own program receives Community Service Award
Utah’s Own program received Community Service Award from the Beehive Chapter of the American Culinary Federation.
Chef Peter Hodgson, CEC, president of the Beehive Chapter of the American Culinary Federation (ACF), presented an award “in recognition for outstanding community service” to Richard Sparks representing the Utah’s Own program at the annual President’s Dinner of the Chapter. The award was made in recognition of the efforts of Utah’s Own program managers, Seth Winterton and Camille Anderson and program member, chef Peggi Whiting, CMC, in helping to host the Annual Meeting of the Western Region of the ACF held in Salt Lake City last April.
The Utah’s Own program was invited by the local chef and meeting organizer, David Prows, CEC, to demonstrate the many locally produced food products to the visiting chefs. Winterton and Anderson enlisted the aid of local chef Peggi Whiting, CMC, to plan and orchestrate the menu for the Utah’s Own portion of the event.
According to Hodgson the Salt Lake City meeting has now become a standard for other regional meetings of the ACF. Among those in attendance at the President’s Dinner were David Prows, CEC, Melva Sine of the Utah Restaurant Association and many renowned Utah chefs and guests.
